Brighton gallery launches unique charity art initiative

Brighton’s art at five gallery to celebrate 10th Birthday  with unique charity art event and exhibition

September 28th – October 22nd

Art at Five, Brighton’s most popular and successful gallery for contemporary art, will celebrate its 10th Anniversary in October with a one-of-a-kind fundraising event of the arts, called Ten for 10.

Ten for 10 is an event that will offer the public an opportunity to win one out of the 10 featured original artworks, and the charity raffle proceeds will be donated to the Drop4Drop, a Brighton-based charity.

10 of Art at Five’s artists will be donating 10 of their original art pieces, and the raffle tickets are only for £10. The value for the paintings are ranging between £300 to £1000, so the Ten for 10 event will offer the chance to own an original piece of artwork for just a fraction of its regular price, whilst also contributing to a worthwhile cause.

Artists donating paintings include Lisa Ridgers, whose paintings feature on two of the most successful programmes on US network TV, Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men, Philippe Aird, who was taught at an early age by L.S Lowry before going on to found Manchester’s Phoenix Gallery, hugely popular Brighton artist Yvonne Coomber and one of South Africa’s leading artists, Natasha Barnes.

The paintings will be available to view at art at five from September 28th until October 22nd, along with a new exhibition of work from the ten artists. Ten for 10 raffle tickets can be bought at the gallery. Further details of where to buy raffle tickets online will be posted on the art at five website.  The raffle will close on Monday October 14th and winners will be announced via the website on Tuesday October 22nd.

Gallery owner Paola Calise explains “After ten successful years in the city we wanted to do something really special to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The idea of ten artists donating works of art to raise funds for a Brighton based charity seemed perfect. Our artists were extremely generous in donating their pictures and we now hope the public get on board and help us raise money for what is an inspirational charity.”

art at five is Brighton’s only gallery selling exclusively original artwork, and one of the oldest galleries in the city. Paola Calise founded the gallery in 2003 and since that time it has gone on to establish itself as one of Sussex’s leading art galleries, representing a diverse selection of national and international artists. All the artists chosen for Ten for 10 exhibit regularly at the gallery.
