The West Sussex town of Crawley was once a favourite with royalty, with the Prince Regent frequently using it as a resting place on journeys between London and Brighton. There must have been something in the travel theme, as today Crawley is perhaps best known for its close proximity to Gatwick Airport, the second busiest airport in the UK.

You don’t have to rack up some air miles to find something to do though; why not take a trip to Tilgate Park Golf Course and Nature Centre, or visit Hawth Theatre and Culture Centre. Crawley is a haven for sports enthusiasts too, and has held markets in the town since 1203.

Crawley is also an ideal base for exploring neighbouring Surrey, where attractions include the famous Lingfield Park Racecourse and Chessington World of Adventures. Whether you have the spirit of adventure, a need for retail therapy, or a relaxing stroll in the park, Crawley can offer it all.
