Legendary guitarist Johnny Marr will top the bill at Butlin’s Bognor Regis alongside a host of celebrated acts from the alternative scene later this year.
Rockaway Beach will also feature sets from post-punk icons Echo & the Bunnymen and The Fall, plus space rock band Spiritualized will make an appearance at the West Sussex venue.
In addition, the first wave of acts to be announced includes new-wave veterans The Monochrome Set and some fledgling talent such as Ghostpoet, Public Service Broadcasting and James Holden.
That’s not all – the organisers have dropped a tantalising hint that a Mercury Prize-winning band will be confirmed soon.
Other acts which have been announced so far include Pinkshinyultrablast, Lola Cult, Whyte Horses, The Telescopes and The Jaguar Club.
Taking place from October 9-12, it aims to bring the feeling of the holiday season to the resort as winter begins to set in.
The three day indoor event will give fans the chance to see some of the most esteemed indie bands of the last few decades perform live, while also enjoying the sounds of some of the newer acts on the scene.
The musicians will perform in venues with fantastic acoustics – enhancing the sounds that fans have come to know and love. There will also be accommodation, food and drink options close to the action.
A spokesperson for Fusion Bags, experts in specialist gig baggage, commented on the festival announcement. They said: “It’s always exciting to see new festivals springing up around the UK, giving fans and musicians alike the chance to enjoy the experience of seeing live acts all in one place.
“It’s an encouraging sign that the industry is thriving, with new names breaking through to perform alongside more established bands. The abundance of choice of festivals creates an eclectic mix that Fusion Bags are always excited to see.”
