Launch of Brighton Fringe Children’s programme

For families planning to attend the Brighton Fringe this May, there is great news with there being a launch of the standalone printed programme for kids that will have details of all the kid friendly events; thus making it easier to find something suitable for the entire family to enjoy.

After having extended the Brighton Fringe in 2013, the festival will again have an extra week in 2014. This will incorporate May half term and both bank holidays starting from 3 May to 1 June 2014. There were more than 100 family events to choose from in the previous year; however, 2014 promises to be better and bigger.

To celebrate the launch of the new children’s programme, Brighton Fringe invited under 18’s from Brighton & Hove to enter a competition and submit their designs to be featured on the cover, with the theme of ‘The Best Show Ever.’

After many entries and a tense judging process, Isla Whitfield, age 5 from Our Lady of Lourdes School in Rottingdean was declared the winner.   Isla got her talented hands on a VIP pass to all children’s events at award winning venue The Warren for the duration of Brighton Fringe 2014, as well as the honour of having her design on all 100,000 copies of the new programme, available from the 7th March.

Brighton Fringe is also delighted to announce that Camp Bestival – the family friendly offshoot of Bestival, one of the biggest events in the British summer calendar – are sponsoring the family brochure.

Joe Elkins from Camp Bestival says “Here at Camp Bestival HQ we’re all about ‘family’ so we’re chuffed to bits that Brighton Fringe is offering so much for big and little kids alike.  Expect to see us down there and don’t forget to join us down the road at Lulworth Castle, Dorset for Camp Bestival this summer.”

Family highlights on the Brighton Fringe programme already are – John Hegley performing I am a Poetato at The Komedia, Just So – new play based on stories by Rudyard Kipling, The Fishing Museum’s Fringe of Fun – puppet shows and treasure hunts and Thumbelina, winner of Argus Angel & FringeReviews’ outstanding theatre award in 2013.
