Mid Sussex has just been ranked as one of the best rural locations to live in the UK. A quality-of-life survey conducted by Halifax showed that the districts of Burgess Hill, Cuckfield and Haywards Heath, are rated as some of the best places to live in the country. The survey conducted by Halifax looked into different factors such as environment, housing markets, employment opportunities, and health and educational facilities.
This part of the country was ranked as 15th and residents of the area have commented that they are not surprised that the area is ranked so highly, stating that it is a great place to live. A worker at the post office in Burgess Hill has commented, “This town is a small and quiet place and it has a really great community feel. There are good schools nearby and there is hardly any traffic.”
A representative for a district Council in the region, Robert Salisbury has said, “The open countryside is really great here and the villages are unique. Furthermore the communities are usually very active which make living here a great experience. I am often visiting family in London or Surrey, and I always look forward to coming home to the countryside.”
He continued, “Hurstpierpoint is another great town which has seen a great deal of improvement over the last decade or so. It has become a great place to shop and antisocial behaviour and crime here is incredibly low. That said, parking is still a nightmare.”
