Seeing an NHS dentist is about to get even easier for people in the Crawley area when a brand new dental practice opens next week offering NHS dental services.
Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre – located at 83 Tomlin Court on Commonwealth Drive, Crawley RH10 1AH – opens on Monday 11 April 2011 and will be able to see more than 3,500 new NHS patients.
Brand new for Crawley
Local people who are looking for an NHS dentist can request an appointment by calling the Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre on 01293 565765.
They will also be offering private treatments such as dental implants, cosmetic dentistry and invisible braces.
A full range of NHS dental treatments
Julia Nooralii, Principal at Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre, said: “We have been established in Horsham for the last 11 years and are delighted to now be opening in Crawley as well, working with NHS West Sussex to give patients a full range of NHS dental treatments. We have two dentists working at the practice and can offer appointments from 8.45am to 6.00pm and also on Saturday mornings.”
The new development has been possible thanks to a major £1.8million investment in dentistry across the county by NHS West Sussex.
The investment has increased capacity at a number of existing practices in West Sussex and is leading to three new practices being set up and opened in Crawley and then Worthing and Chichester, which will be opening in May 2011.
Altogether the money will mean an extra 6,300 people a year in the Crawley area will be able to see an NHS dentist and an extra 25,000 across the whole of West Sussex.
Working to improve NHS dental services
David Grant, NHS West Sussex’s Dental Contracts Manager, said: “We have been working hard with dentists across the county to increase the number of dental practices offering NHS dental services to West Sussex residents and are really pleased that the Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre is now opening in Crawley.
“We know that there are many people who think it is impossible to find an NHS dentist, but the reality is very different now. One in four of NHS dental practices in West Sussex are taking on new patients and the latest figures show that 92 per cent of people in West Sussex who have tried to get an appointment with an NHS dentist in the last two years have been successful. We know the opening of the Pembroke Dental and Implant Centre will increase that even further. Details of West Sussex dental practices accepting new NHS patients can be obtained from the Sussex NHS Dental Helpline on 0300 1000 899 or the NHS Choices website www.nhs.uk .”
The number of people seeing an NHS dentist in West Sussex continues to rise – currently it is around 432,000 people across the county – a rise from the end of 2007 when that was just 403,000. The extra investment this year follows on from an additional £1.5m spent during 2008/9 to secure NHS dentistry for approximately 20,000 new patients.
