In early September a new service is set to launch in the Petworth area which is going to be helping vulnerable people and the elderly. The organisation is known as Lunch Club Plus and it is going to be running at Hampers Green Community Centre. The club has an organised by the West Sussex branch of Age UK.
One of the leading promoters of the project is Juliet Fynes and she has stated that she expects the project to be successful and is going to be monitoring carefully to make sure that everything works as planned.
Rother Valley Together as a group could have been responsible for commissioning the new service and in addition to this they have also set up a daycare centre in Midhurst at the Grange. This opening was in response to a facility that was axed by the county council recently.
The centre manager for the Grange at West Sussex is Petra Lynn and she stated, “We are planning a wide range of activities. The lunch club that we run takes place on every weekday except Wednesday and it gives people the option to have a two course meal at lunchtime for just five pounds.
Those who come to the event also enjoy a free cup of coffee or tea, but most importantly it gives them an opportunity to talk to each other and enjoy the company of people of a similar age. We also run a bingo session on Monday evening where cash prizes are available and entry into the game is only one pound. There is also a quiz night run on Friday and we are able to pick people up and take them to the centre through our minibus service.
