Newhaven

Although Newhaven in East Sussex is well known as a gateway to France, it’s well worth exploring what the town itself has to offer, before you consider a trip to the busy ferry port!

Set alongside the port, the Newhaven Marina offers mooring and onshore facilities for visitors. You’ll also find companies offering scuba-diving and water-skiing. The shoreline is also a great place for wildlife enthusiasts and fossil collectors, with Newhaven Beach, and the Newhaven to Brighton area of Special Scientific Interest.

Other points of interest in this seaside town, include Newhaven Fort and The South Downs National Park, which can be found just beyond the borders of the town. You can also take a trip to Paradise Park, which houses a unique collection of gardens reflecting flora and fauna from around the world. Mix this with a dinosaur park, maritime museum and life/fossil museum, and you’ll get some idea of the eclectic range of attractions in this town.
